Handmade in Africa is located in the mountain village of Clarens, in South Africa's Eastern Free State highlands. It was established in 1996 to assist women in rural Southern Afica gain self-sufficiency. Our beaders work from home, enabling them to generate income while looking after their dependents. In busy seasons we help upward of 40 women, many in self-formed beading communities, become contributing members of their families.
By combining the traditional craft of bead weaving with carefully selected product ranges and design, Handmade in Africa has established a popular and fast-selling range of jewellery and accessories, ideal for retail gift, jewellery and accessory outlets.
